When we refer to our website as the The Cure for the Common Computer Ache we are intending to provide our visitors with a solution for muscle stiffness and soreness associated with using a computer for an extended period of time. We provide a convenient resource of video stretches and exercises that combat muscle stiffness and soreness. These activities target muscles that commonly develop soreness and stiffness from computer use. While your hands are busy using the keyboard and computer mouse, your shoulders, neck and back are held in a static posture. By holding any position or posture for a time you develop soreness and stiffness that is a signal to change your position or posture. These signals are easily reduced and eliminated by simply getting up once an hour and moving around the neck, shoulders, wrists and back. While any movement is helpful to relief stiffness and soreness, we provide targeted stretches and movements that would be more effective than random movement. Since our information is intended for prevention purposes, they will reduce the risk of Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI) to your neck, shoulders, wrists and back when uses throughout the workday and on a daily basis. Computer users who ignoring the position and posture signals and do not move around and stretch during the day are at greater risk of developing RSI. Our information is not intended to eliminate a stressful work environment. It is not intended for reducing aches and pains of such magnitude that they impact your ability to perform your work duties. They can be used as a maintenance routine once RSI has been medically managed.
