In a clinical setting, I regularly help clients who are injured.
Many get better despite their having to work all day, or having to work around/with other medical conditions.
Practically all of them are given a home exercise program to prevent their injury from returning.
Prevention of injury and improving your energy level is preferred over waiting for an injury to occur
from muscular de-conditioning:

Is right for your fitness level and works with prior injuries.
Energizes you, even after a day at work.
Is specific to your age.
Is progressed at a rate you can handle!
Is not painful for you to perform, and you may actually enjoy!
In the past 10 years I have gotten:

20 year olds back to soccer and martial arts
30 year olds back to long distance cycling
